The CAMFED Garden at Chelsea Flower Show 2019

Give Girls In Africa A Space To Grow

I am completely thrilled to bits to be promoting The Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) as part of Chelsea Flower Show 2019.  CAMFED is an inspiring charity that is dear to me. By supporting girls through education CAMFED gives girls the education, skills, and confidence to develop and run businesses, including in agriculture. Please do check out their website to learn more

You can expect to experience the vibrancy, creativity, and positivity of the Zimbabwean people reflected in the bright colours and bold plant choices.  The core message of the garden is the importance of horticultural education and how this can lift women, families, and communities out of poverty in rural Africa.

There are elements in the garden that can be incorporated into anyone’s back garden that are low cost – some of our items have even been sourced from eBay and skips!  The inclusion of biofortified crops and low-cost solar lights show also how scientific advancements are benefiting rural populations in Africa.

This is a garden full of stories that will unfold over the coming months. Please do check my blog regularly as I intend to fully document the garden design, inspiration and key players in bite-size blogs, as well as the ups and downs of doing a garden for Chelsea.
